Constantina is currently involved in a project on the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, coordinated by Dr. Elissar Andari (University of Toledo, USA). For this project, Constantina uses data generated by the COVID Human Genetic Effort, an international consortium aiming to discover the underlying genetic basis that make some patients susceptible to severe symptoms of COVID-19, or others, resistant to it.  

Other than her purely scientific contribution, Constantina has devoted a lot of her time in communicating to the public her knowledge on the transmission and treatment of Sars-CoV-2. She was the first scientist to analyze and explain in her article in Athens Voice the official vs. real number of cases in her home country, Greece, something that helped political leaders decide for an early shutdown of the country.
